Have you ever felt trapped? Well, over the last 20 years that is exactly what I have been, trapped.

You might ask ‘how’ or if you know me you might ask ‘what do I mean’? Well, the writer in me has been trapped in the corporate world for over 20 years and now that I have been ushered out with no safety net – the next 20+ years are going to be done on my terms!!

Recently I unexpectedly began a transition from the Corporate world into starting completely over at 51. Now don’t get me wrong I have been blessed to have worked with and for some great people. I’ve even ran across a few who weren’t so great but without everyone I’ve crossed paths with, I wouldn’t be who I am today. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful to have had a successful career for over 20+ years and without the opportunity, my life and the lives of my two children, would have been very different.

So who am I? Well, having been adopted, the one thing I wanted most besides to escape through writing – was and will always be, family. I’m a single mother of two wonderful children. My first born is a successful young professional who graduated from Texas Tech University, with a Biochemistry degree and a minor in biology. I’m blessed to also say she will be starting graduate school soon. My youngest, a son, just turned thirteen a few months ago. He is the most fun, witty and wise, musically talented kid you’ll ever meet. Oh and he’s completely handsome (no that isn’t the biased mother in me speaking). And yes, your math is correct, they are fifteen years apart…who does that, well apparently I did! What was I thinking? I also have an associates degree in Psychology.
